Happy New Year! ✨
Welcome to 2022! Here is an update for you.
Plants! Do you have lots of plants now? We do. I started using an app to track our watering schedule. You can input the soil type, pot drainage, if the plant is close to heating or AC. It also lets you take photos of your plants over time so you can see how they are doing. It’s pretty cool and with so many plants it’s nice to have more organization to my watering than my previous haphazard watering schedule. The app is called Planta and you can get it for Android or iOS.
I think I’m in a pretty good place with the advertising I get on Instagram. I have now purchased a number of things that I have discovered through IG advertising. Some of the things I have picked up include beers, apple cider, cheese from goats, apparel and, most recently, flavour packs for Kraft Dinner!
I opted to NOT purchase the cotton candy pack but the rest look promising.
I received a recommendation for a game called Telestrations. It’s basically telephone meets Pictionary. You take turns drawing, passing, guessing, drawing until your card goes around the room. Occasionally things like this happen.
Media
We have been watching The Witcher season 2 on Netflix. It’s still weird and confusing but the fight scenes and monsters are pretty cool.
Here are a couple things to watch on YouTube. Fist up is a channel recommendation. My Mechanics is a channel where they restore old things to better than new condition. There is no talking and short captions that tell you what is going on. It’s rather soothing to watch. Here is the latest video:
Next up is a video that The Algorithm thought that I would like. It wasn’t wrong. This is a song analysis of a song called Teardrop by Massive Attack. If you ever watched the TV show House, this was the theme song. As a fan of both this song AND the TV show House I found this quite interesting.
Things We Made
Those of you who we met over Christmas might recognize this first one. I have been creating art prints from trees. These ones are from a log that I found near our pond that was a convenient size for carrying home. Here are the steps to make a tree ring print: sand the wood flat, burn the wood to create high and low spots, clean it up, roll on some paint and then press on the paper.
We did our usual holiday baking. This year included molasses spice, chocolate chip skor, white chocolate candy cane, peanut butter pretzel and shortbread.
I made a rice pudding. Pretty easy and delicious. Those who like rice pudding seemed to enjoy it.
That’s all for now. I hope you have a great year!
